Kete Barnes joined Brown, Neri, Smith & Khan after graduating from Whittier Law School in 2014. Since then, he has gained extensive experience in all aspects of commercial litigation matters.
Mr. Barnes began his legal career while studying political science at SUNY Potsdam. Over two of his undergraduate summers, he worked for his tribal government’s legal department. While employed there, he obtained experience in Federal and NYS Indian law, NYS tax law, and local governance.
Mr. Barnes also obtained various practical experience while at Whittier Law School. Over his first law school summer, he volunteered for the Korean Resource Center of Los Angeles, providing assistance for Dream Act applicants and other immigration matters. In the following summer, Mr. Barnes interned at the Small Business Administration, gaining experience in real estate, administrative law, and various state and federal issues. Immediately after his internship ended with the SBA, Mr. Barnes began working for a solo-practitioner in Santa Ana, who focused on civil litigation and criminal defense.
